Ron Grinblat is the founder and editor of Thryve Digest and a growth and revenue marketing leader with more than 20 years of experience across B2B and B2C organizations. He rose from individual contributor to Executive Director of Marketing at RealAge and Sharecare, and went on to lead teams and programs at Intuit, MUFG Union Bank, ActiveCampaign, and Wagepoint, where he sat on the leadership team of a payroll platform built for small businesses. Alongside that work he has spent much of his career managing, coaching, and mentoring people at every level of an organization. In 2024 he left a director-level role to work for himself, and he now writes about both sides of that decision: the systems that keep a small business running, and the ones that keep the person running it upright.

    Experience
Ron began his marketing career in 2004 at RealAge, a digital health and wellness company acquired by Hearst in 2007 and by Sharecare in 2012. Over nine years across both companies, he progressed from individual contributor to Executive Director of Marketing, building acquisition and lifecycle programs that supported a $30M+ annual online revenue stream and helped scale the customer database from 2M to 12M.

During that period he partnered with conversion optimization firm SiteTuners, led by Tim Ash, on a multivariate testing program that evaluated more than 550,000 design combinations for the RealAge registration experience. The engagement was published as a case study in Ash's book Landing Page Optimization (Wiley), which reported a 40% lift in conversion rate. The lesson from it, that systematic testing beats redesigning on instinct, still shapes how Ron evaluates tools and claims at Thryve Digest.

From 2013 to 2018, Ron led Marketing Operations and lifecycle execution at Intuit across a 55M-customer database supporting TurboTax, a $500M+ annual revenue stream. He managed and developed a team of eight campaign managers and marketing operations leaders responsible for email and database marketing. Working with Product and Analytics, he led a cross-functional team that revamped the TurboTax subscription program and generated $40M+ in incremental revenue. His group also overhauled deliverability practices to lift inbox placement from roughly 75% to 98%+, and helped drive 20% year-over-year unit sales growth on TurboTax Desktop and Online. During his time at Intuit, he also served multiple terms as a Volunteer Project Lead with Heartfelt Helpings, the company's poverty alleviation initiative.

He subsequently served as Vice President and Data Marketing Technology Partner at MUFG Union Bank, building a cross-functional MarTech team inside a regulated banking environment, and as Director of Marketing Acquisition at ActiveCampaign, where he led global MQL strategy across inbound and outbound programs.

From 2023 to 2024, Ron was Director of Growth at Wagepoint, a payroll platform built for small businesses, where he led the marketing team across acquisition, lifecycle, product marketing, content, and marketing operations, and sat on the company's leadership team. That role put him closest to the readers this site is written for: owners with a handful of employees, no finance department, and a payroll run due on Friday regardless of what else is happening. Much of the Small Business coverage on Thryve Digest traces back to what he saw there.

Since 2024 he has run his own consulting practice, advising SaaS, lead generation, and growth-stage companies on acquisition strategy, lifecycle marketing, and revenue-focused funnel optimization. He operates Revaro Group as a solo founder, which means he makes the same decisions he writes about: which tools are worth paying for, what to do yourself and what to hand off, and how to keep going through the quiet months.

    Editorial Perspective
Ron writes at the intersection of strategy, operations, and personal practice. His view is that the systems that make businesses run (clear inputs, low friction, honest tradeoffs, recovery built in) are often the same systems that make a life run. Thryve Digest covers both deliberately.

The Reinvention side of the site draws on his own career change rather than on credentials. He left a stable role in 2024 to work for himself and writes about that territory as someone who went through it recently enough to remember the parts nobody warns you about, including the financial math, the identity adjustment, and the stretch where nothing has worked yet.

Ron is not a CPA, an attorney, or a licensed financial adviser, and Thryve Digest does not publish tax, legal, medical, or investment advice. Where a question needs one of those, his articles say so and stop.

    Education
Ron earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara in 2004 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from National University. He has also completed continuing education in email deliverability, AI applications in marketing, and B2B demand generation.

    Published Work & Speaking
Ron's published work includes "Leading with Storytelling: Creating an Emotional Selling Proposition" on the Digital Marketing Master podcast (December 2022), "How Parenting Taught Me to Be a Better Manager" on LinkedIn, and "MME15: Deliverability Agility: Taking Back Control of the Inbox," co-authored with Smar Faraj during his time at Intuit/Quicken and presented at Oracle's Modern Marketing Experience conference.
